현재 공간에서 다음 공간으로 넘어가기 전 마주하게 되는 요소로 작지만 소중한 디자인 요소 중 하나가 바로 손잡이입니다. 시옷스페이스의 손잡이 프로젝트는 이러한 작은 요소에 특별한 가치를 부여하기 위해 시작되었습니다.

이 프로젝트는 전통적인 소재를 활용하기 위해 시작되었으며 포천석, 타슬, 금속을 조화롭게 결합한 새로운 접근 방식을 제시합니다. 포천석을 바탕으로 한 손잡이는 고유의 질감과 자연스러운 아름다움을 지니며 그 사이로 스쳐 가는 작은 타슬은 손잡이를 사용하는 순간, 시각적 즐거움과 흥미로운 경험을 선사합니다. 이 작은 디테일은 단순히 기능적인 요소를 넘어서 손잡이라는 일상적인 오브제를 통해 시각적 재미와 감각적 재미를 제공합니다.

전통 소재와 현대 소재를 조화롭게 결합하여 옛 것을 보존하면서도 현대적인 미감과 기능을 반영할 수 있는 방법을 제안합니다. 전통적인 포천석과 타슬의 사용은 역사의 흔적을 이어가면서도 금속을 활용한 현대적인 요소는 세련되고 실용적인 디자인을 완성합니다. 이로써 옛 것과 새로운 것이 자연스럽게 어우러지는 공간을 만들어가며 디자인의 가치를 한 층 높입니다.

As one moves from one space to the next, a handle is often the first element encountered—small, yet one of the most essential design details. The handle project by SIOT SPACE began with the intention of assigning special value to this often-overlooked element that mediates transition.

This project originated from a desire to work with traditional materials, proposing a new approach through the harmonious combination of Pocheon stone, tassels, and metal. Handles formed from Pocheon stone retain their inherent texture and natural beauty, while the subtle tassel that brushes past the hand introduces a moment of visual delight at the instant of use. This small detail transforms the handle from a purely functional object into a source of sensory and visual interest—adding quiet pleasure to an everyday gesture.

By thoughtfully blending traditional and contemporary materials, the project suggests a way to preserve the past while embracing modern aesthetics and functionality. The use of traditional Pocheon stone and tassels carries forward traces of history, while the integration of metal elements completes the design with a refined and practical sensibility. Through this balance, old and new coexist naturally, elevating the value of design through even the smallest point of contact.
