꽃살에 깃든 시간의 결

조용한 동네 한켠에서 어딘가로부터 멀리 혹은 가까이 떠나온 이들에게 잠시 머물 수 있는 작은 쉼과 여유를 내어주고자 하는 마음에서 이 공간은 시작되었습니다. 빠르게 지나가는 일상에서 한 발 물러나 속도를 늦추고 자신의 감각에 집중할 수 있는 장소가 되기를 바랐습니다. 한옥이 지닌 전통적인 분위기 위에 현대적인 감각을 덧입혀 익숙하면서도 새로운 공간으로 재탄생 시키는 방식에 대해 고민했습니다.

기존의 구조 안에서 옛것과 현대가 공존하는 장면은 때로 차가운 인상으로 다가왔고 담장이라는 요소 역시 기능적인 경계로만 해석되어 본연의 역할을 충분히 수행하지 못하고 있었습니다. 이에 담장을 단순한 분리의 장치가 아닌 공간의 감정을 조율하는 매개로 다시 바라보았습니다. 전통 담장의 개념을 현대적인 디자인 언어로 재해석하고 전통적인 재료와 현대 소재를 함께 사용해 시간의 층위가 겹쳐지는 장면을 만들어냈습니다.

창을 통해 스며드는 빛과 조경이 만들어내는 풍경에는 ‘산수화’의 감성을 더해 자연을 바라보는 시선이 하나의 장면처럼 머물도록 구성하여 실내에서도 마치 자연 속을 거니는 듯한 인상을 받을 수 있도록 하였습니다. 전통 오브제에 대한 해석 역시 형식에 머무르기보다 의미와 결을 이어가는 데 집중했습니다. 전통 문양 중 꽃살 문양을 모티브로 반복과 여백이 만들어내는 리듬을 공간 곳곳에 스며들게 했습니다. 꽃살에 담긴 시간의 흔적은 머무는 이들의 시선과 마음에 조용히 스며듭니다.

Time’s Grain Resting Within Floral Lattice

This space began with the intention of offering a moment of quiet rest and ease to those who have traveled—whether from far away or just nearby—into a calm residential neighborhood. Stepping back from the speed of everyday life, it was envisioned as a place where one could slow down and reconnect with their senses. The project explores how the traditional atmosphere of a hanok can be layered with contemporary sensibilities to become a space that feels both familiar and new.

Within the existing structure, the coexistence of old and modern elements at times felt stark, while the boundary wall had been reduced to a purely functional divider, unable to fulfill its original role. The wall was therefore reconsidered not as a device of separation, but as a medium that gently modulates the emotional tone of the space. By reinterpreting the concept of the traditional wall through a modern design language, and by combining traditional materials with contemporary ones, moments 

The scenery formed by light filtering through the windows and the surrounding landscape is infused with the sensibility of sansuhwa, allowing the gaze to linger as if within a painted scene. Even indoors, the space evokes the feeling of wandering through nature, shaped through a careful balance of light, shadow, and openness. Interpretations of traditional objects move beyond form alone, focusing instead on meaning and continuity. Among traditional motifs, the floral lattice pattern is reimagined and woven throughout the space, where repetition and void create a gentle rhythm. The traces of time held within the floral lattice quietly settle into the gaze and the mind of those who stay.
