노을빛이 공간을 감싸는 소격동

소격동의 조용한 골목 한가운데 자리한 이곳은 기다란 'ㄷ'자 구조의 한옥을 새로운 방식으로 해석한 스테이 입니다. '빛이 아름다운 노을'이라는 뜻을 가진 채하소격은 노을빛이 공간 곳곳에 스며들어 부드럽게 감싸 안는 듯한 느낌을 구현하는 것을 목표로 시작되었습니다. 목구조에는 은은한 붉은 빛이 도는 컬러로 입히고 가구와 마당의 바닥까지도 같은 결의 색감을 반영해 노을의 색을 공간 전체로 확장하였습니다. 밝고 모던한 분위기 안에 따뜻한 톤이 포인트처럼 배어 나오도록 구성했습니다.

긴 'ㄷ'자 구조의 특성을 살려 공간을 분할하기보다 길게 흐름이 이어지도록하였으며 작은 규모의 스테이지만 하나의 여정처럼 각각의 장면이 자연스럽게 연결되는 것을 느낄 수 있도록 계획했습니다. 마당은 외부와 이어지는 것처럼 보이기를 원해서 동글한 하프 벽돌로 구성하고 건물과 마주보는 방향으로 사철 푸르른 조경을 심어 실내에서도 계절의 녹음을 느낄 수 있도록 했습니다.

침대 헤드 벽면에는 전통 타슬에서 영감을 얻어 실로 감아 만든 오브제를 패턴화하였습니다. 전통 타슬에서 실은 단순한 재료가 아닌 삶과 염원을 담는 상징물이기에 이를 공간의 결로 녹여 현대적으로 재해석했습니다. 매듭의 꼬임을 응축해 하나의 형태로 구현하며 전통적인 요소가 차분하게 공간 안에 스며들도록하였습니다.

Sogyeok-dong Wrapped in the Glow of Sunset Light

Located along a quiet alley in Sogyeok-dong, this stay reinterprets a long, U-shaped hanok structure in a contemporary way. Chaehwa Sogyeok, whose name carries the meaning “beautiful sunset light,” began with the intention of creating a space gently embraced by the hues of dusk. A soft reddish tone was applied to the wooden structure, and the same chromatic language extends to the furniture and the courtyard flooring, allowing the colors of sunset to permeate the entire space. Within a bright and modern atmosphere, warm tones emerge as subtle accents, settling softly throughout.

Rather than dividing the space, the elongated U-shaped layout was designed to maintain a continuous flow. Though modest in scale, the stay unfolds like a single journey, where each scene connects naturally to the next. The courtyard was composed with rounded half-brick walls to appear visually connected to the outdoors, while evergreen landscaping facing the building allows the greenery of the seasons to be felt even from within the interior.

On the wall behind the bed, patterned objects inspired by traditional tassels were created using wrapped threads. In traditional culture, thread is not merely a material but a symbol that carries wishes and the rhythms of life. By translating this symbolism into the texture of the space, the motif was reinterpreted in a contemporary way. The twists of the knots are condensed into singular forms, allowing traditional elements to quietly permeate the space with calm restraint.
