일상의 중심에서 담아낸 나만의 이국적인 휴식

도심 속 하이엔드 주거 공간 에테르노 청담 프로젝트의 첫 시작은 공간 속, 작은 리조트의 구성요소를 공간에 녹여내는 것이었습니다. 이 공간은 단순한 휴식처를 넘어 매일의 삶 속에서 감각적으로 분리된 또 하나의 세계를 경험할 수 있는 장소를 지향했습니다. 기존 주거의 틀을 답습하기보다 ‘공간 속의 공간’이라는 개념을 디자인 언어로 풀어내며 새로운 주거 경험을 제안하고자 했습니다.

전혀 새로운 공간 속의 공간이라는 디자인 언어를 담아내기 위해, 오랜 시간 동안 클라이언트와의 소통을 통해 디자인 방향을 설정했습니다. 클라이언트의 취향과 요구를 반영하여, 이국적인 리조트 분위기를 기반으로 하여, 마감 소재와 톤 앤 매너, 그리고 구조적인 해석을 통해 새로운 공간을 재해석했습니다.

자연적인 감각을 강조하기 위해 거친 암석과 자갈 등 외부의 질감을 적극적으로 도입하고 천장에서 떨어지는 낙수 연출을 통해 물의 움직임과 소리를 공간 안으로 끌어들였습니다. 탕의 수면 위를 가로질러 실내에서 외부 테라스로 이어지는 공감각적 경험은 내·외부의 경계를 자연스럽게 허무는 전이 공간으로 작용합니다. 이러한 요소들은 도심 한가운데에서 마치 이국의 리조트에 머무는 듯한 수공간의 분위기를 연출하며 일상 속에서 온전히 쉼에 몰입할 수 있는 시간을 제공합니다.

An Exotic Retreat of One’s Own, Framed at the Center of Everyday Life

The Eterno Cheongdam project, a high-end urban residential space, began with the idea of weaving the elements of a small resort into the heart of the home. Rather than serving as a simple place of rest, the space was envisioned as a sensorially distinct world—one that allows residents to momentarily step away from everyday life. Moving beyond conventional residential frameworks, the project proposes a new living experience through the design language of a “space within a space.”

To realize this entirely new spatial narrative, the design direction was shaped through extensive dialogue with the client over a long period of time. Reflecting the client’s preferences and needs, the space was reinterpreted through an exotic resort-inspired atmosphere, articulated by carefully selected finishes, a cohesive tone and manner, and a thoughtful structural approach.

To heighten the sense of nature, exterior-like textures such as rough stone and gravel were actively introduced, while cascading water from the ceiling draws movement and sound into the interior. A synesthetic journey unfolds as the circulation crosses over the surface of the bath, connecting the interior to the outdoor terrace. This transition zone gently dissolves the boundary between inside and outside, creating an exotic waterscape within the city. Together, these elements evoke the atmosphere of a secluded resort, offering a moment of complete immersion in rest—right at the center of everyday life.
